LAKE CATHIE MEN’S BOWLING CLUB
WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 22nd APRIL
Tom Reeves, Dick Engel and Bob Kohut were rink winners on Monday; lucky losers were Ken Pritchard, Jenny Scott and Vic Ley. On Thursday the main prize-money went to Des Hancox, David Pateman and Graham Howard. Brian Gorman, Max Heslehurst and Ray Stokmanis were runners-up and the lucky losers were Laurie Bayliss, Dick Engel and Bob Kohut.
On Saturday our Grades 3, 4, 6, & 7 Pennant Teams enjoyed trial matches against Pennant Teams from the Kew Bowling Club. The final results for the day overall the 12 rinks was Kew being the victors with 10 rinks being won and 2 rinks only being won by Lake Cathie Club. All matches were very tight and exciting to watch with very little separating the teams. Most importantly though was the friendly spirit in which all matches were played which says much about the calibre of long standing friendships that exist between the players of both Clubs.
Kew players also took out all three prize winning honours for the day with the winning rink going to a triples combination of T. Stringer, T. Austin and A. Hilton. Runners-up went to W. Thrussell, D. Davies, J. Race and G. Nichols. The lucky losers went to S. Rogan, W. Bates, G. Ludford and R. Sutton.
Four Round 1. Club Minor Singles Championship matches were played on Sunday with Bob Kuhut defeating Glenn Fuller, Rob Eldridge defeated Brian Pearce, Roger Miles defeated Charles Duthie and Syd Cochran defeated John Fuller.
