Club Championships.

The long awaited triples championship  played today ( 7th) between D. Barrett and Phil Baker. The winner was Phil Baker’s team who came from behind to win 24-21.

The major pairs final between D. Barrett and C. Murray will be played Sunday May 21st at 1pm.

Major pairs. Semi finals played today, C. Murray def R. Trow 28-8 and D. Barrett def B. Anderson 25- 14

Pennants:

Grade 1, round 9. Defeated North Haven 9-1 ( 66-52). With 1 game to play they lead Westport by 3 points. The last game is at home to SWR on Saturday. It would be great to have a full house supporting the boys.

Grade 2 defeated Sawtell 10-0 ( 79-37) and now go to the state playoffs at Rules Club Wagga, on Friday 6th to Sunday 8th August.
Grade 4 lost to Park Beach 1-9 (50-67). Their season is now over.
Grade 5 lost to Bowraville 0-10 (49-69) so they also bow out.

The Zone 14 grade winners to go to the state as follows-

Grade 2  Port City at Rules Club Wagga
Grade 3 Kempsey RSL at Maitland City

Grade 4 Park Beach at Tuncurry
Grade 5 Bowraville at Soldiers Point

Grade 6 Kempsey RSL at Tamworth
Grade 7 Sawtell at Engadine.

In “Breaking” news from South West Rocks, a wayward bowls bag tackled our treasurer, Leigh Hardingham, who came off second best with a broken arm. I am sure he will make a full recovery.

In the 2017 senior interzone championships to be played at Sylvania Bowling Club May 16-18, congratulations to Ian Binder, Bruce Anderson, Ken Paulsen and Bryce Stewart who have been selected in the zone 14 side.

2 bowl handicap triples, May 9 – 11. A total of $8000 in prize money. A total of 8 games with lunch included on Wednesday and Thursday.

Notices are on the board for state pairs/ state senior pairs/state president reserves singles/state singles. Entries close 5pm Friday 19th May

Bowls is back on free to air TV, starting on Sunday 14th May at 3pm 0n SBS.

The PCMBC bowls calendar for May/June  is on the board. The full 2017 calendar is on our bowls web site under “Calendar 17”.

Port City travelling bowlers Sunday June 4th is a fund raising bowls day in support of Marine Rescue NSW & Sailability. Cost is $15 and includes breakfast and lunch. Come along and support this great cause.

Bowling membership is now due. Renewals at the “old” change box or online.

No social bowls on Wednesday or Thursday this week due to the handicap triples tournament.

Don’t forget the men’s meat raffle every Friday, tickets available from 5pm with the draw at 7pm.  Ask for our special deals when buying tickets. Meat trays are proudly supplied by Wiggly Tail Butchery.

The $200 jackpot stayed in the tin.

Thursday: Winners ($15) T. Scholz – J. Keller . Runners Up ($10) B. Chapman – R. Towers. Happy Losers ($7) M. Rand – P. Gilligan.
The $610 jackpot was won by Bryce Stewart.

Friday: Winners ($15) D. Roberts – A. Fakes. Runners Up ($10) K. Paulsen – B. Jux. Happy Losers ($7) P. Jacobsen – G. Williams. The $1000 jackpot did not go off

There are no Saturday afternoon social bowls during the pennant season.

Sunday: Betty Hodgson took out the jackpot of $228.
