LAKE CATHIE MEN’S BOWLING CLUB

WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 8TH JULY
Welcome back Wayne Garvin. I look forward to seeing you back on the green soon. It was great to see Wayne and Reg walk into the club last week. After the trauma of Wayne’s kidney transplant operation which did not go well at first; to see him looking so fit and healthy, it was a treat.

It came down to one point for our Grade 3 pennant team. They won 5½ - 4½ against Port Panthers on Saturday needing one more bowl near the jack to win the flag for 2018. So close.

Not so close for our other teams; Grade 4 went down ½ - 9½ to Kempsey Heights; Grade 5 went down 0 – 10 to Port City; and Grade 6 lost to Comboyne 0 – 10. Grade 7 had a bye and we can all say goodbye to the 2018 pennant season although some grades have one more game to play. Thank you to all who did their best for Lake Cathie.

Mike Brennan’s team move to the second round of the Club Triples Championship with a win over Phil Innes’. In the other game, Dennis Hamilton and his elite team had a win over Warren Dark and his motley mob.

On Monday it was win for the rain and we all had a day off. Thursday it was sunny and warm, and Bill Bailey with George Ganic made the most of it and took out the winning rink. Runners-up were George Barnes, Bill Stewart and Rob Eldridge. Peter Teiffel, Geoff Howard and Bob Hoban made do with the lucky loser’s prize.

Graham Fairburn and Bruce Saunders were grinners on Saturday while Roger Miles and Vic Austin were happy to lose.
