2018 Minor Singles Finalists Paul Dewson (Winner) and Denis Begley

WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 27TH MAY
Not to be outdone by his sister Marilyn, the 2018 Ladies Minor Singles Champion, Paul Dewson claimed the title of 2018 Men’s Minor Singles Champion on Friday with a fine display of draw bowls, defeating Denis Begley 32-9. Well done to both players for reaching the final, a pity someone had to lose.

The good news is that
Paul will not be in the competition next year which gives the rest of us a
chance.
In Round 1 of the Club
Fours Championship Brian Gorman’s team had a comfortable win over Steve Philp’s
team and move on to the next round.
Pennant results; Grade
3 won against North Haven 10-0; Grade 4 lost to Port City 0-10; Grade 5 lost to
Wauchope 1-9; Grade 6 won against Port City 8-2; and Grade 7 lost to Wauchope
1-0.
The winning rink on
Monday went to John White, Helene White and Peter Richards while Arthur
Fletcher, Paul McNamara and Peter Harris were lucky to lose.
Winners on Thursday
were Graham Conen, Roy Williams and Bob Ruming; Runners-up were Warren Taylor,
Ian Howes and Syd Cochran; and the lucky losers ere Geoff Worley, Keith Woods
and Hubert Opitz.
Bob Fischer, Barry
Northey and George Barnes were the winners and Saturday; Bruce Saunders and
Doug Rose took the lucky loser’s prize.
