Weekly News

Since our last social day, Major/Minor pairs was played and won by D Amor and
R Kean def. R Hehir and R Biddle19 to 16. 

The Turnaround triples carnival was a great success and the new format of 8 games of 8 ends proved very popular. Twenty teams were entered in the event, which included ten from Port City. The three Prize winning teams were all from our club. Congratulations to the winners S Devine, M Doyle, J McKay, K McFarlane, who won with 6 wins and a margin of 27 just 2 margin points ahead of 2 nd place winners B Barrett, J Brady, F Schollum, R Evans. 3rd C White, L Zahra, B Standen, D Allen.

Consistency singles starts next week. As with all championship games the starting time will be 9am. All entries must be prepared to mark the next game.

Nominations for Minor singles are now open (closes 9 October). Play will commence on 23 October. Its great fun and good experience. You must put $5 in an envelope and give it to the match Committee.

Melbourne Cup day is nearly here (Nov 6) it should be a great day with a mixed triples format. Finger food is provided and there are plenty of prizes to be won. See Phil in the bowls office if you’re interested.

Port City is holding a Bowls open day on Sunday 7 October. It is a free event, with the aim to increase membership numbers. Bring a friend and the family. There will be lots of fun stuff happening with a sausage sizzle jumping castle and face painting.

Christmas is coming up quickly, if you have any ideas for concert acts see Judy Brady.

Our spiders raise money for charity and any contributions would be greatly appreciated.
Donate your unwanted bras for Octobra. Port City will donate $1 to the women’s refuge for every bra placed in the barrel.

Sunday   PM –            Mixed Triples. 12.30 for 1pm start (names in by 10.00am)
