Dress code for social bowls is club uniform/creams or clean smart casual, with collared shirt and neat shorts/slacks. No tank tops or singlets

Bowls Facebook page has been updated. We now have bowls streamed “live” from Port City. Listen to Phil “the Ray Warren of bowls” Baker call the shots

A Reminder that Port City greens and spectator areas are smoke free.

The inaugural George & Matilda eye ware tournament was taken out by Mike Rand – Craig Cooper. The only side to win all four games.

Corporate jack attack new season runs Oct 26 to Nov 23. Entry $75 per team will be donated to the Hastings cancer trust in association with Octobra.

The men’s major/minor pairs next round is on Saturday 6th October 1pm start.

Congrats to Cody Griffin – Jai Whelan – Greg Keft who have won through to the national BPL (bowls premier league) titles at Pine Rivers in November.

Pennants 2019, doesn’t it come round quickly!!! Nomination forms are at the bowls counter. Please complete this to assist the selectors.

Noms are open for 2018 mixed pairs. Entries close 15 October.

2018 Club Challenge- expressions of interest, sheet is on the board.

The club is holding a Bowls open day on Sunday 7th October 10am – 12 noon. It is billed as a Funday in the sun for the whole family. There will be a jumping castle, face painting, sausage sizzle. Come along and see what bowls is all about.

Goodbye Keith – I believe Keith Ashdown (the grey nomad) is transferring across to Westport. We thank Keith for his input to Port City.

Special announcement from Eastern Tiger Restaurant – A bowlers only lunch time special for $12.50. This is available Tuesday to Friday (ex public holidays)

Don’t forget the men’s meat raffle every Friday, tickets available from 5pm with the draw at 7pm.  Ask for our special deals when buying tickets. Meat trays are proudly supplied by Coppy’s butchers Block.

Social Bowls
Wednesday: The rains came and washed us out after about 14 ends. It also washed out the results sheet.

Thursday: Winners ($20) Dave Wilson-Brian Jux. Runners up ($10) Terry Schollum-Peter Gunn. Lucky Losers ($10) Col Marr- Ron Davies. Ron missed the $200 jackpot

Friday: Winners ($20) Col Halls- Ron Osborn (must mention they also took an eight off Dave Pascoe assisted by Roscoe Towers). Runners Up) $10) Chris Thornton – Tommy Smith. Lucky losers ($10) Rex Hawkins – Tom Cornforth. Joey Judge missed the $850 jackpot.

Sunday afternoon mixed triples: Nice to see Judy Brady brushing up on her MC duties.
Shirley Devine left the $498 jackpot with the treasurer.
