LAKE CATHIE MEN’S BOWLING CLUB WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 9TH APRIL
They say that it is the
final score that counts; not how it happened. Congratulations to our Grade 6
and Grade 7 pennant teams who are through to the Sectional Play-offs against
Zones 1 and 2. Grade 6 lost both games to Kew on the weekend but managed to scrape
across the line with a 0.5 margin. The Kew players came so close to knocking us
off our perch. Grade 7 had a more comfortable margin finishing with 39 points,
8.5 points ahead of Port City.
Doug Porter and Phil
Smith won their Minor Pairs game during the week and move through to the next
round.
Elaine Sharples, Reg
Penney and Charles Duthie were the rink winners on Monday. Lucky losers were
Anne and Ken Norberry.
Thursday was a washout
once again. What a disaster! We are looking at returning to a 9.30 a.m. start
on Thursday to allow more time to judge the trend weather-wise. As well; in the
event of no play in the morning due to weather an afternoon triples game
commencing at 1 p.m. will take place, weather permitting, for those players
able to take part.
The social bowls on
Saturday resulted in Vic Ley and Keith Woods grinners and Graham Fairburn and
George Butlin lucky to lose.
