News from Lake Cathie - MBC

The news report for the week ending Sunday 2nd April, 2017 from the Lake Cathie Men's BC is now available.

The latest news report follows with thanks to Ray Downes.

LAKE CATHIE MEN’S BOWLING CLUB                   WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 2ND APRIL

A brief reprieve in the weather allowed the pennant games to be played on Saturday thank goodness. The results were mixed with Grade 3 losing to Kempsey Heights, Grade 4 losing to Port City, Grade 5 defeating Comboyne, Grade 6 defeating North Haven and Grade 7 losing to Port City. Grade 6 remains undefeated and is in a strong position to take part in the Sectional Play-offs. At this stage the other Sectional winners could be Macksville and Kempsey RSL.

Between the showers and in gusty conditions on Sunday Geoff Worley and Steve Grimshaw won through to the next round of the Major Singles.  Graeme Bowers and Ray Downes won their game in the Minor Pairs and move on to the next round as do Steve Webster and Roger Hall.

The rink winning team on Monday consisted of Elaine Sharples, Charles Duthie and Keith Clarke while the lucky losers were Anne Norberry, Ken Norberry and Helene White.

Thursday was an expensive wash-out once again. Why does it always have to rain on Thursdays?

Keith’s dog was at it again and ate the Saturday sheet so I have no idea who won or lost.

We need more teams for the CLASSIC PAIRS ON WEDNESDAY 12TH APRIL. Come on ladies, show the men how to play bowls!
