A reminder that Port City is a non smoking venue. It is Illegal to smoke on the greens or on the surrounds to the greens.

The men’s club by laws are currently being reviewed, particularly as relates to our dress code. It is a timely reminder that for social bowls, neat casual attire is acceptable with a collared shirt. Singlets do not fall into this category. The amended by laws will be posted on the notice board.

The new bowls kiosk ( adjacent to the bowlers entrance). Three screens have now been installed with the left hand side being the men’s honour board and the right hand side the ladies honour board. The middle one is for latest news updates, tournament scores etc. A big thank you to Paul Webster for his input on this. A quote has been accepted for the “counter” so we will see movement in this area shortly.

Hopefully also we will see a “mat box” installed adjacent to green 1.

The men’s club have ordered new bowls jackets which will compliment our representative, pennant strip. Also new hats are on the way.

Club Championships currently under way-

In the triples semis, Danny Barret to play Mike Rand, and Matty Bayes to play Phil Baker.

In the minor singles, Paul Webster is through to the final and will play the winner of Steve Matheson and Chris Thornton.

Pennants is under way and after two rounds Port City Koalas have had a promising start.

On Tuesday afternoons Geoff Mitchell and Mike Rand are conducting pennant “drills”. Well worth attending.

Some upcoming events-

Tuesday 4th April at 6pm Rotary Club challenge, Wauchope V Port City.
Friday April 7th, Mayor”s Bowls Day.

Revision to our jackpots on social days. Currently the jackpots are capped at $600. The committee has decided that the jackpots will be increased and capped at $1000. When the current jackpots are won the “carry over” pool will start the next jackpot , to a maximum of $600. The new jackpot numbers will be 1 – 20, decreasing by one number each week the jackpot is not won. Remember the winning jackpot is to be shared by that rink.

As from last month’s report, happy to see a big improvement in the size and quality of the meat trays for our Friday night’s raffle.
