HAPPENINGS

Over 30 spectators witnessed an enthralling game of bowls last Thursday when our Club’s Championship Triples final was played. At the completion of 21 ends, the score was locked with both teams on 17. An extra end needed to be played to determine a winner. Congratulations to Faye Schollum, Margaret Doyle and Margaret Tyree (skip) who ended up the eventual winners on 18. Congratulations also to the runners up – Helen Carr, Julie McKay and Beth Schubert 17 for reaching the final and playing so well.

Entries for Major/Minor Pairs closed today and draw is up on the noticeboard. Please check to see when your game is to be played – first round due to commence 28 August.

We welcomed 49 players today plus 3 visitors all enjoying the pleasant weather conditions (much better than Sunday when a howling gale made conditions VERY interesting!).

Thanks to all those who made donations to our farmers appeal we raised $600 which has been forwarded for distribution to needy farming communities.

We will be holding our Daffodil Day raising funds for cancer research on Tuesday 28 August. More information next week and thanks to Robyn Biddle for coordinating this event again this year.
