Kew Men’s Bowls News. 

The AGM was held on Saturday and the following members were elected to lead the club through 2018-19, President Barrie Isaac, VP Chicka Thompson, Treasure Tony Austin, Secretary Dave Napper, Bowls Organiser John Gemmell, committee Mark Hammond, Mick Stuttard, Peter Laing, Ian Poole, Ron Hale and Rocky Davis, Selectors Barrie Isaac, Chicka Thompson and Gary Hamilton. After the AGM a game of bowls was enjoyed and the winners were Mick Ashford, Charles Doyle and Ron Hale, the runners up Rocky Davis, Mark Hammond and Gary Ruprecht. Voucher winners Ron Hale, Carl Young, John Hilton and Howard Burrows.

Saturday the first of September the Kew Country Club will hold a bowls for bales day to help raise funds for our drought affected farmers $12.50 per person that includes a sausage sizzle. Start time 9.30 for a 10am start every dollar raised will go to support our farmers an initiative of Rotary of Laurieton in conjunction with Rotary of Narrabri. Book at KCC on 65594203.

The minor singles is well under way with a few upsets it leaves the competition wide open. Ian Hodgkinson def Stewart Rogan, Peter Laing def Ian Poole, Adrian Hilton def Rod Sutton, Stewart Wellard def Reggie Robb, Ron Hale def John Gemmell and Leslie Faulstone def Wayne Thrussell.

One game of club triples was played on Sunday morning Paul Cini, Gary Cheers and Peter Griffiths def Ian Hilton, Adrian Hilton and Warren Barnes.

Wednesday social and getting out the door with the cash was Dan Thomas, Frank Raczka and Phil Collins, the runner up loot went to Alf Salter, Darren Darcy and Ian Poole. Voucher winners were Carl Young, Barrie Isaac, Stewart Wellard and Ray Elliott.

Friday’s jackpot is still in the bank with no team successful with either jackpot. Rink winners and picking up a sub for the power bill was Carl Young, Jeff Nichols and Chicka Thompson, the runner up dosh went to John Hilton, Phil Collins and Mick Ashford. Vouchers went to Ross Harris, Carl Young, Howard Burrows and Cliff Kerr.

Wednesday social is the bowls this week names in by 11.30 12.30 start mufti dress all welcome.
