Weekly News

It was good to see so many players entered in the first round of Consistency Singles today. We had a great turnout of 20 championship and 24 Social players and many thanks go to the 10 markers and the umpire for helping out. Congratulations to the winners and a reminder to check the board for your next game.

Nominations for Minor singles are now open (closes 9 October). Play will commence on 23 October. You must put $5 in an envelope and give it to the match Committee.

Melbourne Cup day is nearly here (Nov 6) it should be a great day with a mixed triples format. Finger food is provided and there are plenty of prizes to be won. The cost is $10 and play starts at 10 am.  See Phil in the bowls office if you’re interested.

Port City is holding a Bowls open day on Sunday 7 October. It is a free event, with the aim to increase membership numbers. Bring a friend and the family. There will be lots of fun activities with a sausage sizzle, jumping castle and face painting.

Good Luck to Fay Schollum and Lyn Zahra, from Port City, and Sue Wood, (playing for North Haven) in the Champion of Champion pair’s competition.

Meals on wheels are looking for volunteers; see Robin Biddle for more information.

Beth Schubert is now taking Christmas cake orders the sheet is on the board in the locker room.
