Not the best weather for pennants on Saturday with the wind howling and the temperature not the best, it made for some close results not all going our way the sevens went down 9/1, the sixes won 9/1, the fours went down 8/2 and the ones just going down Westport. The two washed out games were washed again so each team will get 5points each. Don’t forget there will be no pennants for 2 weeks and will resume on the 23rd of June.
What a cracker of a game the semi-final of the club fours played on Wednesday afternoon Howard Burrows, John Gemmell, Mick Ashford and Barrie Isaac went into the match against Ron Hale, Chicka Thompson, Ian McLaren and Ray Allan the blustery conditions did not make playing easy but some wonderful bowls was played none better than last two bowls that Barrie was called on to play going into the last end four down he had to take a bowl out to give to leave them square unfortunately Ray’s bowl went wide leaving Baz to draw the shot to make it a margin of five to win the match by one. Congratulations to the eight players who done themselves proud as all played great bowls throughout the match.
On the not too good list we have Gary Martin who is in Port Hospital get well soon mate you are needed for pennants. Ha ha.
Friday jackpot triples and we have a winner picking up $500 with smiles all round Ian Hilton, Rod Sutton and Max Blair were the lucky winners. Vouchers went to Peter Laing, Frosty, Rod Sutton and Peter Laing.
Wednesday social and picking up the milk money was Adrian Hilton, John Ockers and Reggie Robb the runner up prize went to Frank Raczka, Ross Harris and Peter Laing. Voucher winners were Frosty, Dave Napper, Barrie Isaac and Mick Ashford.
The Kew Classic Fours are on Saturday and Sunday the 28th and 29th of July if you want to enter a team it would be best to do as places are filling rapidly contact the club on 65594203 or Barrie Isaac on 65595225.
Wednesday social is the bowls this week names in by 11.30 12.30 start mufti dress all welcome.
