Port City WBC Weekly News 10th April

It was a big day on the greens at Port City on Tuesday 9^th April.

The Final of the Club Singles was played between Lynne Thompson and Carol White. Carol has won the Club Singles for the last three years, so this was going to be a real tussle. Lynne got away to a good start, but at one stage it was 12 all. Lynne finally triumphed, winning 25 to 22. Well done to both of you.

Grade 4 Pennants also played their 13th Round. Port City 4 (1’s) defeated North Haven 4 (2’s) and Port City 4 (2’s) defeated North Haven 4 (1’s). The 4 (1’s) are still in with a chance.

It was a pleasure to welcome the following ladies to the non-bowlers’ morning tea this morning: - Marianne Smith, Muriel Whitbourne, Veronica Davey, Elaine McGrath, Val Grambau, Irene Turner, Shirley Chapman, Jan Goldman, Beryl Young, Gwen Turner, Fay Martin.

Club Pairs commence on Tuesday 15^th April at 9.30 (the draw is on the board) and some ladies are opting to play on Saturday 12^th April at 9.00 am.

It won’t be long now before we play our Four Day Easter Carnival. Entries close on 13^th April (or sooner if filled). There are still some vacancies.

Club Fours open on 15^th April, will close 6^th May and be played on 20^th May.

Our next Quarterly Meeting will be held on Tuesday 20^th May, after bowls. Ladies if you are interested in your club, please try to attend,

We wish any ladies who are unwell a speedy recovery and a return to bowls very soon.

President Barbara reminded us that there are a lot of Carnival Entry Forms in the Folder near the magazine rack.
