We held our Christmas Party and Break-up Day on Tuesday 10^th December. Despite predictions of showers and heat, the day turned out very well and we managed to play our games. Everyone looked very festive in their Christmas gear and it was great to see the camaraderie on the greens.

Port City Men's Bowls Presentation Day

Presentation Day at Port City Men’s Bowling Club was held to-day and the star of the show was youngster 15 years old Callum Murray. He was in teams who won the Major Triples, Major Fours, and the Major/Minor Pairs. He was also in the team that were runners up in the Mixed Fours. He also represented Port City in The Fountain of The Mountain Triples at Kempsey Heights and was Runner-up. He also represented Port City in the 2013 Pennants. To top off his day he won the Bowler of the Year for 2013.

Club man of the year was Terry Schollum. Congratulations to both of you and to all the winners for 2013.

ENCOURAGEMENT DAY

On Tuesday 26^th November we held our Encouragement Day for bowlers who have been playing for less than 5 years. There were 28 teams entered for this event from the following clubs. Forster, Tuncurry, Kew, Taree Railway, Blackhead, Old Bar, South West Rocks, Kempsey Heights, Wingham, Lake Cathie, Coffs Ex Services, Westport, North Haven and Port City. Results as follows:–

Entries are now open for the popular $5,400 Port City Men's Prestige Pairs to be played from Wednesday 16th July - Friday 18th July 2014.

LNC District Umpire Meeting

A general meeting of the LNC District Umpires was held today at the Port Panthers BC. With a good turnout of umpires from the district it will help ensure all clubs are kept up-to-date on officiating matters.

Neville's Contribution Recognized by Bowls NSW

NSW vs. QLD Test Series

Today's edition of the Port Macquarie News includes an article on the test series to be played at Port City on Thursday 29th - Friday 30th January.

Local Players Qualify for Australian Open

The NSW qualifying rounds for the Australian Open have been completed and it's great to see a couple of our local teams qualify for this prestigious event. They are:

Men's Fours: Phil Baker, Scott Franklin, Alan Wares & Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights)

Mixed Pairs: Jenny Roberts (Lake Cathie) & Greg Brims (Port City).

Regional Games at Lake Cathie

The Friendly Inter-Region 1 & 2 Games were held at Lake Cathie B.C. on Thursday 21^st and Friday 22^nd November, 2013 conducted by Region 1 Representative Judy Padgen and Region 2 Representative Carole Graham. Region 1 Teams were 32 players combined from Clarence River, Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast Districts. Region 2 Teams were 32 players combined from Hastings Haven, Macleay and Lower North Coast Districts. This is the second year these games have been played and won by Region 1. Game wins 15, Draws 2. Total Score 461. Region 2 Game wins 7 Draws 2. Total Score 392. 2014 Games will be held at Grafton.

Carole and Judy wish to thank Secretary Manager Dean, President Ann, Chef Luke and the wonderful Social Committee Girls from Lake Cathie B.C. who went to so much trouble to make the Games such a great success.

NSW vs QLD Test Series at Port City

The NSW vs. QLD test series for 2014 will be held at Port City from Wednesday  29th - Thursday  30th. January 2014.

This promises to be an exciting test with some of the best men, women & junior bowlers on our greens.

It is not necessary to wear a parachute when skydiving ….. It is necessary however to wear a parachute if you want to skydive twice.

Port City Men's Hamper & Presentation Day

The Port City Men's Hamper & Presentation day will be held on Saturday 7th December with bowls starting at 1:00 pm.

Single entries, for a game of fours, and goodies for all make for an enjoyable afternoon. Entry sheets at the club or phone the bowls office on 6583 1153.

The NSW State finals of the men's champion of club champions pairs has commenced today at the Belrose BC. Alan Wares and Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights) are our Zone 14 champions.

There was no Ladies Social Bowls on Tuesday 5^th November, owing to the running of the Melbourne Cup. Our club held a Mixed Triples game, with champagne and orange juice being served on the greens. After the game we all enjoyed a great chicken salad lunch, with dessert, and more champagne and orange juice was served on the tables.The Noni B and Lowes fashion parade was greatly enjoyed and it was fun to see all the men who participated.

Bryce & Lyn Stewart 

The final of the Port City Mixed Pairs was played today with Lyn & Bryce Stewart taking out the title with a 22 - 15 win over Elaine Eames & Dean Jenner.

State Championships - Singles Update

Singles commenced today in both the men's & women's state championships with results as follows:

Men's Singles: Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights) won his first round match this morning but went down in the quarter finals 28 - 31 to Ben Twist (St Johns Park) . Click here for details.
