Port City WBC November Newsletter




Congratulations
                                                                Minor Singles
 
To Lorraine Cannon  for being the Minor Singles Champion for 2013. Congratulations also to Eleanore Russell for being Runner-Up. Both ladies played extremely well. It was a match more than worthy of a final.

Consistency Singles

To Hazel Durrant  for winning the Consistency Singles. Congratulations also to the Runner-up, Karen McFarlane. It was a very close game.

State Championships

To Carol White who competed in the State Championship Play-off at Tuncurry which were held from 12th – 19th October. Carol was narrowly defeated by Natasha Van Eldik 23 to 25.

Congratulations also to Pat Light and Jennifer Munson who also competed during the same week. They advanced to the Quarter Finals. Well done girls.

Over 60’s Interstate

Carol White was chosen to play in the Over 60’s NSW Interstate Team which was held at Belmont Club, Victoria.

The match was played in horrific conditions with icy winds and rain. Victoria won overall, with NSW coming second. 

Hastings V MacLeay

Debbie Amor, Barbara Barrett, Carol Bowman and Judy Brady were our representatives for the Hastings versus Macleay match. Congratulations go to NSW who won overall by 4 points.

Non playing members’ morning tea
 
We welcomed the following ladies to the non-playing members’ morning tea last month.
Marianne Smith, Val Grambau, Beryl Young, Gwen Turner, Jan Goldman, Shirley Chapman, Muriel Whitbourne, Marie Bignell.

New bowler’s afternoon tea

We held an Afternoon Tea on Tuesday 8th October for  New Bowlers and we welcomed four ladies – Margaret Halliday, Jan Opitz, Jo Jenkins and Linda Wright. We wish you many happy years bowling with us.

Melbourne Cup Day 

 A great day was had by all on Melbourne Cup Day. Ella Wright took out the title of “Best Dressed”.

Quarterly Meeting

Will be on held on Tuesday 12th November, after bowls. These meetings are your opportunity to find out what is happening in your club.

Port City Gala Day – 19th November

Now is the time to be potting up those plants and getting out your cake recipes for our upcoming Gala Day. We would also appreciate any craft things you have made and small items that are re-saleable from around the house

Encouragement Day – 26th November

Encouragement Day for players less than 5 years bowling is being held on Tuesday 26th November. Please have your entries in as soon as possible.
Presentation Day – 3rd December

All championship winners will be presented with their trophies for 2013 and club uniform is required for the photos.

Christmas Party – 10th December 

Christmas is fast approaching and our Christmas Party will be held on 10th December. Boxes are now available at the club in which you can place any donations you wish to make. Grocery items would be most appreciated, as well as clothing and toys. If donating clothing, please mark clearly gender and size for adults and for children please mark clearly gender, size and toy suitability.
