Port City WBC Weekly News

Port City Women's Bowling Club news report for the week ending Tuesday 15th October.

Tuesday 15th October saw the start of the Consistency Singles. 60’s Club Winners – 1st June Harris, 2nd Carol Bowman, and 3rd Anne Connell.

We wish all our ladies who are unwell a speedy recovery. It was good to see Helen Carr back at bowls again today.

A reminder that there will be bowls on Melbourne Cup Day – Tuesday 5th November. The event will be Mixed Triples and the cost to enter is $16/person. This will include green fees, lunch and drinks on the green. Entries will close on the Friday prior to the event (1st November). Please pay at Reception and you will receive a receipt. Mufti is allowed.

As there are only a few more bowling days left before the Christmas Party a box will be made available next week for donation of gifts for the Salvation Army to distribute to the needy. You can donate groceries, or gifts. If giving gifts, please mark clearly on the gift whether for a female or male adult and gender and age of child.

Anne Connell has been appointed Publicity Officer for District. Congratulations Anne.

Pat Light and Jennifer Munson won their first game of pairs at the State Play-off on Monday 14th October at Tuncurry, but unfortunately were defeated in their 2nd game. Well done girls.

Carol White will be competing in the Singles at the State Play-off on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October. Good Luck Carol.

Helen Cooper celebrates a birthday on 18th October. Margaret Doyle on 17th October.

Upcoming events – Pink Panther Day is October 23rd.
Stocklands/Queens Lake Carnival (North Haven) 28th October, Lake Cathie Gala Day – 29th October, Melbourne Cup Day – 5th November, Quarterly Meeting 12th November, after bowls, Kew under 6 years bowling Encouragement Day – 12th November.

Port City Gala Day will be held on 19th November, so now is the time to pot up a few plants, etc and plan which cakes you will make for our Trading Table and anything else you wish to make or donate.
