Port City WBC Weekly News





On Tuesday 8th October there was Social Bowls played, as well as two rounds of the Minor Singles.  Eleanore Russell in defeating  Robin Kean has advanced to the Semi Finals and will play against Barbara Owens on Thursday 10th October. Lorraine Cannon d June Edward to advance to the Finals to be played on Saturday 12th October.

We welcomed the following ladies to the non-playing member’s morning tea. Marianne Smith, Val Grambau, Beryl Young, Gwen Turner, Jan Goldman, Shirley Chapman, Muriel Whitbourne, Marie Bignell.

It was great to hear that Ingrid Code is recovering very well and we hope to see her back on the greens in the near future. It was also good to see Helen Carr back at bowls following her recent illness.

We held an Afternoon Tea for New Bowlers today and welcomed four new bowlers – Margaret Halliday, Jan Opitz, Jo Jenkins and Linda Wright.  We wish you many happy years bowling with us.

The State Championships Play-offs will be held at Tuncurry 12th – 19th October. Carol White will compete in the Singles and Pat Light and Jennifer Munson will compete in the Pairs. Good Luck ladies – we are very proud of you.
Consistency Singles will commence on Tuesday 15th October at 9.30.

15th & 17th October North Haven is holding a Triples Carnival.
Port Panthers is holding a Pink Panther Day on Wednesday 23rd October.

28th October Stocklands/Queens Lake Carnival will be held at North Haven.
29th October is Gala Day at Lake Cathie.

We encourage all ladies to enter Gala Days as it is a lot of fun as you get to play with different bowlers and this is the only way that District can raise money.  Any bowlers wishing to play in outside events are advised that there is a folder hanging near the board and this contains all the information you will need.
Kew Encouragement Day will be held on Tuesday 12th November.
Our next Quarterly Meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th November, after bowls.
Port City Gala Day – Tuesday 19th November.

Any bowlers who have been playing less than 5 years are encouraged to play in our Encouragement Day to be held on Tuesday 26th November. There is a sheet on the board containing the names of ladies who are eligible to play in this event.
