Port City WBC Weekly News

We held our Christmas Party and Break-up Day on Tuesday 10th December. Despite predictions of showers and heat, the day turned out very well and we managed to play our games. Everyone looked very festive in their Christmas gear and it was great to see the camaraderie on the greens.
It was good to see some of ladies who hadn’t played come for the lunch. They were – Jan Creak, Dot Gibbs, Shirley Chapman, Jan Goldman, Val Grambeau, Julie Graham, Val Northey, Gwen Turner, Beryl Young, Marie Bignell, Val Bott and Nancy Kennedy.
Many prizes were drawn for lucky winners and there were too many to mention.
Raffle Winners – 1st – Dawn Olsen, 2nd – Enid Ingram, 3rd Maureen Orsulich, 4th - Carol Bowman, 5th -  Karen McFarlane, 6th – Brenda Burge, 7th Grace Greenaway.
100 Club – 1st Margaret White, 2nd Barbara Owens, 3rd –R osemary Roach, 4th Hazel Durrant, 5th – Mary Bennett.
The hampers were won by Jan Drewsen and Carol Banks.
Major Brett Gallagher from the Salvation Army had lunch with us and was then presented with hampers full of donations from our bowlers and a cheque from our club.
After a delicious baked dinner and wine and orange juice our two life members Shirley Devine and Frances Green cut the Christmas cake that Beth Schubert had created. Thank you so much Beth. You always manage to produce a very beautiful and artistically designed cake every year.
We were all entertained with a concert put on by our girls and once again it was a howling success. Thank you for all the talented ladies who participated, especially the anonymous Seven Dwarfs.
A big thank you to all the helpers who helped to make the day such a success.
