WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 25TH
MARCH
What a contrast in the
weather during the week and this weekend. Before the rain tumbled down during
the week, the bowls and barbecue on Monday saw Ron Campbell, Keith Lawton and Geoff
Slack collect the prize for winning rink. Paul Dewson, Anne Armstrong and Bev
Ascot-Evans were the lucky losers.
Then came the rain. It
is a tribute to Brett and his team; the work they have put into our greens,
that on Saturday, it was hard to believe that they had been under water.
Gary Knox and Graham
Wiggins made the most of it and were rink winners. Denis Begley and Warren Dark
were lucky to lose.
Mick Brennan proved too
good for Ray Downes in Round 3 of Major Singles on Saturday while Vic Ley booked
a spot in the finals with a win over Ross Fuller.
The Minor Pairs are
under way; Ken Pritchard and Jim McGill defeated Phil Innes and John McCartney;
Steve Webster and Roger Hall defeated Kerry Deas and Vic Hayhurst; Ray Downes
and Rob Eldridge defeated Gary Blackler and John Fuller; and Derek Wright and
Bill Mahon defeated Peter Griffiths and Keith Woods
