Port City WBC Weekly News 6th March



It was good to see President Barbara back at the club, after a short absence.
Congratulations to our Grades 3, 4 and 5 who played pennants today and won their matches. The weather was perfect after all the rain and plenty of social bowlers turned up for a game.

Lucky Rink Winners: - 1st – Trish Mitchell, Barbara Owens, Mary Bennett and Maureen Cutting.
2nd – Helen Carr, Dulcie Holihan, Joan Bird. Consolation – Lake Cathie Grade 5 team.

Raffle Winners: - 1st – Wendy Kennedy, 2nd – Maureen Bradford (Kew)

1st – Coral Miller (Lake Cathie)

3rd – Maureen Bradford (Kew)
Marie Bignell had a very special birthday on Monday 3rd March. She turned 90. Marie has been a member for 15 years and always does a good job of running our Raffles Table. She was presented with a beautifully iced cake and a posy of flowers.
Other birthdays this week were Joan Limbert on 7th March and Lynne Thompson on 8th March.

Club Singles entries closed today and the draw is up on the board.
Club Pairs will open next Tuesday, 11th March, will close on 1st April and will be played on 15th April.

We look forward to welcoming our non-playing members to Morning Tea on Tuesday 11th March. 

Veterans’ Day will be held on Monday 7th April at the Westport Bowling Club and the Entry Sheet will be taken down on 11th March

We are having a four day Easter Carnival starting on 18th April. There is still time for you to enter. There are Entry forms available at the Club. The programme is as follows -
Good Friday - Mixed Fours, Easter Saturday – Ladies’ Pairs, Easter Sunday – Mixed Triples, Easter Monday – Men’s Pairs. There is still time to put your entries in.

There will be a game of Mixed Triples at 1.00 on Sunday 25th April (Anzac Day).
