Round 5 Men's Pennant at Port City

Round 5 of the LNC District Men's Pennant was played today. The skies cleared after a few rainy days and the greens at Port City were running well.

Results for home games as follows:

Grade 1 - Port City vs. Wauchope, game postponed to a later date.
Grade 2 - Port City def. South West Rocks 5 - 1

Full District results will be posted on Sunday.

The weather was fine for our Ladies Social Day and the playing of pennants.
President Barbara welcomed the visiting Pennant Teams from North Haven, Lake Cathie and Westport. Grade 1 Port City def Westport - Grade 2 Port City def Westport, Grade 3 Lake Cathie def Port City, Grade 4 Port City (1) def North Haven (1).

Port City WBC Weekly News 13th March

We were blessed with great weather again on Tuesday 11th March.
Pennant games were played, as well as Social Bowls.
Grade 1 def North Haven, Grade 2 def North Haven, Grade 3 def North Haven and Grade 4 (1) Port City def  Grade 4 (2) Port City.
Well done Port City.

We had 2 visitors with us today. Pat Del-Rae from Keilor (Vic) and Margaret Cooper (Tweed Heads).
Shirley Devine celebrated a birthday on 9th March and Enid Ingram on 13th March.

President Barbara read out a Thank You card from Marie Bignell, who celebrated her 90th Birthday last week.

We were pleased to welcome the following ladies to our non-playing members morning tea. Muriel Whitbourne, Veronica Davey, Shirley Chapman, Jan Goldman, Irene Turner, Gwen Turner.
Lucky Rink Winners – 1st Margaret Halliday, Helen Cooper, Elaine Eames,
2nd – Debbie Amor, Carol Bowman, Faye Schollum, Judy Brady,
Consolation – Rosemary Roach, Barbara Campbell, Jenny Wallis, Pat Morrison.
Raffle Winners – 1st Linda Wright, 2nd – Maureen Scholz
100 Club Winners – 1st Maureen Cutting, 2nd Barbara Owens, 3rd Fay Martin, 4th Irene Orr (North Haven), 5th Jeanice Schiemer.

Club Pairs opened today. Please put your money in an envelope that is clearly marked with the players’ names and event and Entry Fee of $10 and place it in the box near the Entry Sheets for Social Bowls. Entries will close 1st April and play will commence 15th April.
Entries are still open for our Four Day Easter Carnival. This will be held Friday 18th April, Saturday  19th April, Sunday 20th April and Monday 21st April.

We are in need of Spiders for future events.

Entry Forms are now available for the Versatility Fives which will be played Monday 2nd June and Tuesday 3rd June.

We wish any of our members who are unwell all the best and we hope you are soon back at bowls.

Round 2 of the LNC District Men's Pennant was completed today under ideal weather conditions and free running greens at Port City.

Port City WBC Weekly News 6th March



It was good to see President Barbara back at the club, after a short absence.
Congratulations to our Grades 3, 4 and 5 who played pennants today and won their matches. The weather was perfect after all the rain and plenty of social bowlers turned up for a game.

LNC Men's District Pennant

Due to the wet conditions today in our area all pennant games in the LNC District were cancelled and District has advised that round 1 will now be played on Sunday 16th March starting at 9:00 am.
