PMC Womens Bowls weekly news 12th April

It was a very blustery and cold day on Tuesday 10th April for the playing of the Handicap Triples. It was good to see so many teams entered and great games resulted from this.

Grateful thanks were given to Keith Ashdown for umpiring and also to Eric Durrant for assisting Margaret with the results of the day.

The non playing members morning tea was held and although small in number there was lots of chat between Lorna Whitehead and her sister Barbara visiting from Sydney Veronica Davey Elaine McGrath Muriel Whitebourne and Bonnie Weatherley.

President Shirley congratulated Carol White who won the Major Singles Championship on 5th April against a very worthy opponent in Jennifer Munson. Both these girls played excellent bowls to reach the final.

Congratulations were also in order for the Grade 5 Pennant team consisting of Margaret Edwards (skip) Eleanor Russell Daphne Sumsky Trish Wellings and Gail Carmody (skip) Joy Barry Frances Fairbrother Robyn Walsh a brilliant result and keep up the good work girls.

District Fours and Senior Fours will be played on Tuesday 17th April. Please check the board as the draw has been altered for this event.

Easter Pairs was a great success - winners on the day were - overall 1 - Carol White Lynne Thompson 2 - Irene Orr Joy Allen (North Haven) 3 - Rose Edwards Elaine Eames.

We will celebrate Anzac Day with a short ceremony at the flagpole and afterwards there will be games of Mixed Mens and Ladies bowls - check the list for entries.

We wish Carol White good bowling when she competes in the Regional Singles Play - off at Taree on Monday 16th April.
