A Reminder that Port City greens and spectator areas are smoke free.

A Reminder also that Tuesday is ladies day, please guys no rolling up until after 2pm.

New Port City bowls cloths have arrived. They cost $5 each. See Phil to purchase one.

The 70’s and over championship was won by Ian Binder/Tommy Smith who defeated Brian Richardson/Brian Stokes in showery conditions.

Presentation Day again was a huge success. I have listed the 2016 championship results in earlier reports. Other award winners were-

Encouragement Award- Mark Husband.
Consistency Bowler, Grades 4-7 - Les Scholz.
Consistency bowler,  Grades 1-4 Greg Keft.

Most Improved player,  Grades 4-7 Eddie Smith
Most Improved player Grades 1-4, Callum Murray
Representative player of the year. Jack Lewis.

President’s Award – Terry ( Rivers) Murray.
Clubman of the Year – Terry Schollum.
Bowler of the year – Callum Murray.

2016 Bowling Club Achievements

-       Grade 5 pennant team winning district and zone pennant flags.
     -       Silver Medal Mixed Bronze team in the Club Challenge.
     -       Nathan Horton and Don Ramsey winning district rookie pairs.
-       Ken Paulsen and Bryce Stewart winning district senior pairs,
-       John Hrabak, Ken Paulsen, Bryce Stewart, Danny Barrett winning district and zone state fours and making it through to the state semi finals
-       Jack Lewis, Phil Baker, Danny Barrett winning district and zone state triples, making it through to the Q/F of the state finals.
-       Phil Baker winning district Champion of Champions Singles.
-       Ken Paulsen representing NSW senior state side in Australian Championships in Perth.
-       Jack Lewis representing Country in this year’s City V Country clash.
-       Callum Murray and Jack Lewis being chosen for the under 25 NSW development squad.

Quite an impressive list !!

The Future of Lawn Bowls at Port City. By now most of you would have a copy of the notice issued by the committee. There is one on the notice board and additional copies are available from the committee.

Primarily this has been brought about by Bowls NSW and Zone 14 adopting the Fixed Fee Structure (FFS). The new arrangements will come into force from January 1st 2017.

Pennants 2017. Intending players are requested to complete the “ Pennant Nomination Form” ( available on the notice board), and hand the completed form to our bowls coordinator. There is also a sheet on the board for those interested in being a side manager.

The 2017 LNC representation nomination sheet ( Southern Section ) is on the board. First selection trial will be held at Port Panthers on Saturday February 4th at 9am. There are open and over 60’s divisions and intending players should indicate their preferred playing position.

The next Xmas ham raffle is on Wednesday 21st with 100 hams up for grabs.

Don’t forget the men’s meat raffle every Friday, tickets available from 5pm with the draw at 7pm.  Ask for our special deals when buying tickets. Meat trays are proudly supplied by Wiggly Tail Butchery.

Please note we would encourage social bowlers be back in the club by 4pm to allow for a timely presentation and raffles. No dead ends Thank you for your co operation.

Wednesday: Winners ($15) S. Harris – C. Ward – B. Sharman. Consolation ($7) D. Trinbar – D. Martin – L. Waters – S. Kelly.

Thursday:  Winners ($15) Bruce Anderson – Greg Keft. Consolation ($7) Dan Ramsay – Rex Hawkins. “ Chappo” missed the jackpot.

Friday: Winners ($15): A. Fakes – A. Baker – D. Roberts. Consolation ($7) B. Crutcher – J. Murton – A. Mallia. Brian Crewe missed the jackpot.

Saturday afternoon bowls is on again starting at 12.30 pm with a jackpot.

Sunday: Brian Knight had an early Christmas present when he took home the $120 jackpot.

Lucky envelopes to, L. Iacono, M. Wallis, R. Evans, B. Hicks, R. Davies and E. Eames. Raffle winners were , T. Murray, J. Brady and J. Brady again.
