The End of an Era

The following is a breaking news item from the LNC web site thanks to Paul Webster. Another press release is also available on the Port Macquarie Independent local newspaper site - click here to view.

"A Special General Meeting happened at Port Panthers on Friday, 16th May. A unanimous vote, by our fourteen District Clubs, passed the Zone Alone proposal.

The long and the short of it all is administration will now be focused at Zone level and everything else (Pennants, Championships etc) will carry on as per normal.

After the meeting, clubs battled it out over a game of bowls and a fine lunch, thank you Panthers Sports Club, was had by all. After the lunch clubs had an opportunity to have their say on a range of matters and some sage words were given those who had a lot of "runs on the board". A great day. Thank you Captain Ken.

To commemorate this important day Ken Errington, our current, and last, District President wrote a short, reflective history of the District. Click here to read his article. Anyone who can add "missing" footnotes to the District history are asked to contact Ken (email address is lilypond@midcoast.com.au)"

Well done to Ken for his excellent summary on the history of the LNC District - I would suggest club secretaries / historians keep a record of this to complement their club history records.

Ken also provides an outline for the future of our Zone and how it will operate in pennants, championships etc.
