Port City WBC Weekly News



The first round of the Club Fours Championship was played on Tuesday 20th May.
Results are as follows – Pam Ditchfield def Daphne Sumsky, Adriana Cutler def Pat Murphy, Lynne Thompson def Debbie Amor, Beth Schubert def Judy Scholz, Robyn Biddle def Margaret Walsh, Pat Light def Fay Martin.

We welcomed District President Diana Upcroft and District Secretary Carole Graham to our club today for the unfurling of the Grade 4 Pennant Flag on the green and the presentation of pins to the members of the team.
President Barbara also presented the certificate to each member of the team.
Congratulations to Grade 4 (1) team consisting of Maureen Cutting (Skip), Mary Bennett, Joy Barry,  Barbara Owens, Robyn Biddle (Skip), Eveline Ramsay, June Edward and Lorraine Cannon for winning the flag.
The Regional Pennant Play-Off will be held at South West Rocks on 16th and 17th June.
Congratulations also to Grade 4(2) for coming second in the District.
After lunch, we held our May Quarterly Meeting.

On Thursday 22nd May the Regional Triples Play-Off will be held at Westport Club and we wish our representatives Lynne Thompson, Fay Schollum and Margaret Doyle all the very best.
Our Biggest Morning Tea will be held on Tuesday 27th May, before bowls.
Versatility Fives Carnival is on Monday 2nd June and Tuesday 3rd June and entries will have closed by the time this news has gone to print.
The Sheet is up for our 60th Birthday celebrations to be held 10th June and we need the names in early to give the committee some idea of numbers.  The cost for the day is $15, and lunch is included. There will be a Spider on the day in aid of the early Intervention Society and the State President Robyn Procter will be attending.
The Committee doesn’t need any more cardboard rolls.
Handicap Triples will be on 9th September.
 We wish any ladies who are unwell a speedy recovery and a return to bowls very soon.
