Port City WBC Weekly News



Tuesday 6th May was another great day to be on the greens. There were Social Bowls played, as well as the 18th Round of Grade 4 Pennants. Grade 4(2) def Wauchope.
Grade 4(1) will play their 18th Round at North Haven against their 4(1’s) on Thursday 8th May. The Regional Pennant Playoff will be held at South West Rocks on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th June.
Congratulations to Lynne Thompson and Carol White for winning the Club Pairs last Thursday. Congratulations also to Margaret Walsh and Shirley Devine for being Runners-Up.

President Barbara announced that there would be no bowls on Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th May, owing to the Mens’ Prestige Pairs being played.
Barbara welcomed Megan Hobson back to bowls.

Happy Birthday this week to the following ladies – Fay Martin, Robin Kean, Pat McNeill, Denise Franklin.
Entries for Club Fours have now closed and play will commence on Tuesday, 20th May.
Also on 20th May Carole Graham will be at our Club for the unfurling of the Pennant Flag for Grade 4. Our May Quarterly Meeting will be held after lunch on the same day.
On Wednesday, 21st May, Port Panthers will be holding their Gala Day and the sheet is on the board for entries.
On Thursday 22nd May the Regional Triples will be played at Westport and we wish our representatives, Lynne Thompson, Faye Schollum and Margaret Doyle all the very best. We encourage anyone who is able to attend that day to come and cheer our team on.
Our Biggest Morning Tea will be held on 27th May
Versatility Fives Carnival will be held on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd June. Entries close 23rd May (or when filled).
Handicap Triples will be on 9th September.
The Sheet is up for our 60th Birthday celebrations and we need the names in early to give the committee some idea of numbers.  The cost for the day is $15, and lunch is included. There will be a Spider on the day in aid of the Early Intervention Society and the State President Robyn Procter will be attending.
The Committee doesn’t need any more cardboard rolls.
We wish any ladies who are unwell a speedy recovery and a return to bowls very soon.
