Port City WBC Weekly News 15th August

Vice-President Margaret Edwards stood in for President Barbara, who was away playing with the Grade 2 Pennant Team. From 12^th – 15^th August our Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pennant Players are at Port Stephens competing for the State Pennant Play-off.
Margaret welcomed two new players Jan Opitz and Linda Wright. We hope you have many happy days playing with us.

We were pleased also to welcome the following non-playing members to morning tea today.Rosemary Aylett, Marianne Smith, Betty O’Brien, Marie Bignell, Val Grambau, Gwen Turner, Beryl Young, Irene Turner and a special welcome to  a first timer, Dot Gibbs.

On the second day of the Westport Carnival which was held 7^th and 8^th August, the weather turned nasty with very strong cold winds. Nevertheless, Port City Ladies had a few wins at the Carnival.

1^st Place in the Gold Section went to Eveline Ramsay, Betty Hodgson and Carol White.

1^st Place in the Silver Section went to Mary Bennett, Carol Bowman and Debbie Amor.

2nd Place in the Silver Section went to Barbara Owens, Lyn Grosvenor (Westport) and Gladys Flockton (Westport).

The first round of the Minor Pairs will be played next Tuesday 20^th August. The draw is up on the board.

Kew Gala Day will be held next Tuesday 20^th August.

26-27^th August the Coca Cola Triples will be held at Port City.

Out of Hat Fours will be held 3^rd September.
