Port City Women's BC Weekly News

Port City Women's Bowling Club news report for the week ending 14th August.

How very proud we are of our Grade 1 and 2 Pennant teams who vied this week for the State Pennant Flag at Tuncurry with brilliant conditions.  Well done to all the players and better luck next year.   Thank you also to all the supporters and barrackers who travelled to cheer the girls on, you were certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Tuesday bowls, although there were fewer bowlers than normal, due to the Play-Offs at Tuncurry, had a fun social day with Vice President Ann taking the day.  A Minute's Silence was observed for former Chairman of the Board and Life Member, Rae Graetz, who had passed away late last week.

The draw was made for the Minor Pairs and will be played on Tuesday 28th August - the draw is on the board.  That day is also our special Daffodil Day and we are hoping for donations of plants, jams, pickles and of course cakes for the trading table to make it a very successful day financially for the Cancer Council.  After bowls there will be a Quarterly Meeting at 1 pm and your attendance is requested so that we may have a Quorum.

The non playing members morning tea was held and we welcomed Marianne Smith, Rosemary Aylett, Irene Turner, Jan Goldman, Gwen Turner, Shirley Chapman and Beryl Young who enjoyed the chat and cuppa.

50 Club winners - 1st Helen Cooper - 2nd Margaret Fowler - 3rd Daphne Sumsky
Raffle winners - 1st Bonnie Weatherley - 2nd Mary Bennett
Lucky rink winners - 1st Margaret Fowler, Adriana Cutler, Elaine Eames - Runners up - Helen Carr, Helen Cooper, Robyn Biddle - Consolation - Wendy Kennedy, Margaret Willis, Kay Bassett

Further games in the Major/Minor Pairs will be played next Tuesday with (skips only) Debbie Amor v Carol White and Judy Brady v Faye Schollum.

The COCA-COLA Triples Carnival will be held on 24th - 26th September and Carol Bowman is now taking entries for this event.   $45 per team and entries to be in by 14th September and teams can play either 1, 2 or 3 days.  Be quick with your entries as this will fill quickly.

To any of our members who are not experiencing the best of health we wish you better days ahead and hope to see you soon at the Club.

Names in or out to the Club by 8 am on Tuesdays only on 65 83 1153.

Thanks to Ann Kirk, Acting Publicity Officer, for this report.
