Port City WBC Weekly News 9th August

Ideal conditions prevailed for the Finals of the Major Club Triples Championship on Tuesday when Denise Gudgeon, Lois Bishell, Beth Schubert vied for the Trophy against Dulcie Holihan, Faye Schollum and Lyn Thompson. It was a great game and for 2012, the winners were Beth's team. Congratulations to both teams on superb bowling through the tournament. Also played on Tuesday was a Major/Minor Pairs match between June Edward, Carol White who defeated Jan Drewsen, Karen McFarlane. Further matches will be held on Tuesday 21st August.

President Barbara congratulated Shirley Devine being appointed to Selection and Robyn Kean to Match for the HHDBA.

It was announced that Daffodil Day will be held on Tuesday 28th August as well as our QM which will be held after bowls approx 1 pm.

Donations are being received for cakes, pickles, jams and plants and we look forward to making it a very successful day financially.

Judy Brady and Carol White were presented with their certificates as winners of the District Triples. They were congratulated on being chosen to represent the NSW Over 60's team to contest the Interstate Series in October.

We were thrilled that Gail Carmody has consented to Chair the Social Committee for this year and she was duly congratulated.

NO SOCIAL BOWLS THIS WEEKEND due to the staging of the State Junior Championships.

Good luck and good bowling to our Grades 1 and 2 Pennant teams who travel to Tuncurry on Sunday to contest the State Pennant Finals.

Our non playing members morning tea will be held next Tuesday 14th at 10.30 am and we are looking forward to seeing you there if you haven't been able to come for some time. The Minor Pairs will close also - so get your entries in girls! WE NEED MORE ENTRIES - CLOSING AT 11 am.

COCA-COLA Triples Carnival - Carol Bowman is now taking entries for this event 24th - 26th September - $45 per team - entries by 14th September. Teams can play either 1, 2 or 3 days.
