Port City WBC News 23rd August

How very proud we are of our Grade 1 and 2 Pennant teams who vied last week for the State Pennant Flags at Tuncurry with brilliant conditions. Well done to all the players and better luck next year. Thank you also to all the supporters and barrackers who travelled to cheer the girls on, you were certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Another beautiful winter's day on Tuesday when President Barbara welcomed back to bowls, after a long absence Jill Fuller, Jan Creak and Ella Wright. Two matches were played for a spot in the Semi-Final of the Major/Minor Pairs between Kerry Bolsover/Faye Schollum who defeated Noelene Williams/Judy Brady. The other match saw Mary Bennett/Debbie Amor defeat June Edward/Carol White. The final of this competition will be held on Tuesday 28th August. Good luck and good bowling to all players. The draw is on the board for the Minor Pairs which will also commence on that day. Daffodil Day and our Biggest Morning Tea will start early at 9.00 am - tea, coffee, scones with jam and cream for a gold coin donation and we are hoping for donations of plants, jams, pickles and of course cakes for the trading table to make it a very successful day financially for the Cancer Council. After bowls there will be a Quarterly Meeting at 1 pm and your attendance is requested so that we may have a Quorum.

President Barbara asked all members to read the Match Committee report in the current Bowls News advising changes of conditions of play in 2013 for various Championships (Page 7).
