Port City WBC Weekly News

 

On Tuesday 17^th September President Barbara welcomed the following bowlers from Port Panthers – Babs Devanny, Rita Schnell, Julie Hudd, Diana Upcroft and Antionette Farmer.  Betty Oliver from Westport also played with us today.

Today was the last day at bowls for our visiting player Christiena Bluett, who has been with us for nearly 5 months. We will miss you Christiena.

We held our Daffodil Day and Trading Table  for the Cancer Council today. We raised $1450 today and last Friday Robyn Biddle and her girls raised over $2,000 when they manned a stall in Horton Street. What a great effort.
President Barbara reminded us that the sheet is on the board for the Wauchope Gala day to be held on Wednesday 3^rd October and also that the Pennant List will be taken down on 22^nd October.

Jenny Devitt had a birthday on 19^th September, Margaret Dornan’s birthday is 22^nd September and Jennifer Munson’s birthday was 18^th September.

Saturday 21^st September there will be no Ladies Social Bowls in the morning, due to the AGM taking place. There will be the usual Open Mixed Pairs at 1.00 pm.

The District Entry Sheets are on the board and they will be played early next year.

Shirley Devine and Margaret Doyle advised that Circuit Training will be held on Friday 20^th at 10.00 am.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Val Geary, on the recent death of her husband.

The draw is on the board for the Minor Singles, which will commence on Tuesday 1^st October.

The Consistency Singles is now open, will close 1^st October and be played on 15th October.

From 12^th – 19^th October the State championship Play-offs will be played at Tuncurry and we will be represented by Pat Light and Jennifer Munson, who will play in the State Pairs. Congratulations and good luck to you both.
