On
Monday, 3rd June and Tuesday 4th June we held our Versatility Fives Carnival
played under very trying conditions on the first day, battling strong winds. Nonetheless
we were very pleased to welcome bowlers from many clubs – North Haven,
Westport, Kew, South West Rocks, Panthers, Lake Cathie, Wauchope and Kempsey
Heights and, of course, Port City. All four of our greens were filled.
President Barbara thanked our sponsors, Oxley Cove Apartments and Port Macquarie Travel, who make this event possible. She also thanked our Umpires Val Byrnes and Judy Scholz, Match Committee, and Carol Bowman, Carnival Secretary and all the helpers in the kitchen and dining room. It was interesting to learn that the idea of the Carnival was the brainchild of Shirley Devine and has proved to be very successful for many years.
