Port City WBC Weekly News 13th June


Today is the 59th Birthday of the Port City Women’s Bowling Club and we were visited by District President Maureen Bradford and District Secretary Carole Graham. After lunch, Life Members Frances Green and Robyn Biddle cut the birthday cake.
President Barbara congratulated Grade 1 and Grade 2 District Pennant winners and President Maureen presented them with their pins and flags. On 17th and 18thJune the Regional Pennant Playoff will take place at Wingham. Congratulations to both our teams.
The following ladies attended our non-playing member’s morning tea at 10.30 on Tuesday 11th June – Gwen Turner, Rosemary Aylett, Elaine McGrath, Muriel Whitbourne, Marie Bignell. We hope you had a lovely time catching up with old friends on such a beautiful day.
On Thursday 6th June the Club Fours Championship final was played. It was a very tight game with the win going to Judy Brady, Carol Bowman (sub Margaret Doyle), Barbara Barrett, Debbie Amor (skip), who defeated Eveline Ramsay, Faye Schollum, Carol White, Lynne Thompson (skip).Club Triples close on Tuesday 18th June.
Lucky Rink Winners – 1st  Megan Hobson, Eleanore Russell, Frances Green. 2nd – Angie Williams, Margaret White, Hazel Durrant, 3rd – Roslyn Stone, Rita Koenig, Margaret Doyle, Consolation Christina Bluett, Lorraine Cannon, Barbara Owens.

There were three birthday girls who received vouchers – Ella Wright, Frances Fairbrother and Wendy Elliott.
Raffle Winners – 1st Roslyn Stone, 2nd Pat Morrison.
60’s Club Winners, 1st – Debbie Amor, 2nd Eveline Ramsay, 3rd Ella Wright.
The major/minor pairs opened today and will close 2nd July and will be played 16th July.
Out of hat Triples will be played on 25th June and there is no fee for entering. Please put your names down as this is a great opportunity to play with different players.
The Regional Singles play-off will be held on Thursday 27th June at Westport and our worthy representative will be Carol White and we all wish her the best of luck.

Today, Morgan  Salmon-Stewart is in Queensland playing the NSW Ashes Test in the under 25’s team and she has just been selected to play in the Australian Side for the under 25’s team. We certainly have some good players in our club and it is great to see young players participating in so many events.

Our best wishes go to any ladies who are experiencing ill health at this time.
