The final game 5 was played this morning under cool, cloudy conditions. Several teams finished with 5 wins with margins and ends determining the winners.

The winning team was Joy & Mike Dennis (Northmead) with 5 wins + 54 shots.

Port Macquarie Mixed Pairs - Day 2


The weather improved today in Port Macquarie with only light showers during the day and sunny breaks.

Due to the rain on Friday afternoon games were cancelled and it was decided to play three games of 12 ends today (Saturday). Round 5 will be played tomorrow morning.

The Port Macquarie mixed pairs tournament commenced today at Port Panthers, Port City & Westport bowling clubs. Not the best weather but we had some sunny breaks during the morning then some showers during the afternoon.

Another fine day in Port Macquarie with games 4 - 6 completed in the Tooheys Gold $20,000 Grade 6 & 7 two bowl triples at Port City.

Tom Robinson (Port City) is leading at this stage with 5 1/2 wins and is closely followed by 9 other teams on 5 wins. It is still anyone's tournament to win.

The Tooheys Gold $20,000 Grade 6 & 7 men's 2 bowl triples tournament commenced today with a full house of 4 greens in play. The weather was cool but we had clear skies in Port today.

Port City WBC Weekly News 20th June

We had our usual Social Bowls on 19th June, although numbers were down owing to many ladies going to Wingham to watch our Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pennant players competing inthe Regional Playoffs.Congratulations to both our teams who won the Regionals and will now go to play for the State Title in August.

Port Macquarie Mixed Pairs Tournament will be held on 28th, 29th and 30th June at Panthers, Westport and Port Macquarie.

Club Triples closed on Tuesday 18th June. The first round will be held on 2nd July.
Port City ladies AGM will be held on Monday 15th July at the bowling club.

Regional Play Offs

To our Number One and Two Pennant teams on winning the Regional Play off at Wingham.
They will now contest the State Final which will be held on 12-15 August in the Port Stephens area.
Congratulations also go to Blackhead on winning the Regional Number 3 Pennant, and to Wauchope on winning the Number 4 Pennant.

Regional Pennant Play Offs

 
News from Wingham where the Regional Pennant Play offs are being held. Congratulations to Port City (1) defeating South West Rocks in Round One and Taree Railway in Round Two.
 Port City (2) had a bye in the first round and defeated Forster in Round 2. Tomorrow they play South West Rocks.
Further results will be published when to hand.

Zone 14 Side Selected


The Zone 14 side has been selected for the annual Pat Geary Memorial Shield contested between Zones 2, 6, 14 & 15. This competition will be played at Halekulani BC on the 10th - 11th August.

Local players from the LN C District include Mitch McCann & Greg Keft from Port City plus players from Westport, South West Rocks, Kempsey Heights, North Haven & Wauchope.

District President's Reserve Pairs


The first round and the quarter final of the LNC President's Reserve Pairs were played at Westport today under some chilly conditions.

Final: Bernie Biddle & J. Scott (Port Panthers) defeated M. Pearson & D. Handsaker (Westport)  to take out the District title.

The Port City Men's Bowling Club AGM will be held on Saturday 20th July at 9:30 am in the bowlers lounge at the club.

Nominations are now open for the committee and will close on Saturday 6th July.
I would encourage any members interested to nominate.

Voting will take place from Friday 12th - Thursday 18th July at the club.

Port City WBC Weekly News 13th June


Today is the 59th Birthday of the Port City Women’s Bowling Club and we were visited by District President Maureen Bradford and District Secretary Carole Graham. After lunch, Life Members Frances Green and Robyn Biddle cut the birthday cake.
President Barbara congratulated Grade 1 and Grade 2 District Pennant winners and President Maureen presented them with their pins and flags. On 17th and 18thJune the Regional Pennant Playoff will take place at Wingham. Congratulations to both our teams.

The final of the Port City Men's Major Pairs was completed today with Geoff Ball and Jim Cranna taking out the title with a 18 - 14 win over Geoff Worley and Allan White.

Port City Women's Fours Final

Games abandoned last Sunday due to the rain will be resumed on Saturday 8th June at Port City including the LNC District President's Reserve Singles and the Port City Major Men's Pairs final.  

President's Reserve Singles - status round 3: Matches to commence at 9:00 am on Sat.

J. Williams (CH) defeated M. Mayes (PC) 31 - 16

NSW 2013 Senior Side Trial



Following the 2013 Senior Interzone Championships, NSW State Selectors have chosen a squad of 16 to attend a trail at Cabramatta Bowling Club on the 12th & 13th August 2013.

Local players include Ken Paulsen, Port City, and Westport bowlers Bruce Anderson and Col Baldwin.

Port City WBC Weekly News 6th June

 
On Monday, 3rd June and Tuesday 4th June we held our Versatility Fives Carnival played under very trying conditions on the first day, battling strong winds. Nonetheless we were very pleased to welcome bowlers from many clubs – North Haven, Westport, Kew, South West Rocks, Panthers, Lake Cathie, Wauchope and Kempsey Heights and, of course, Port City. All four of our greens were filled.

Port City WBC Versatility Fives Tournament


 Winners - Port City 152 Pts. +80 margin

The popular annual Port City Women's Versatility Fives tournament was completed today after two challenging days of chilly winds and some showers. 

Winners were A. Cutler, B. Schubert, M. Doyle, R. Roach & E. Ramsay taking it out on margin with equal points to the runners - up. 

Changes to the Bowls NSW Magazine


Not the "Latest" news but Bowls NSW is restructuring their magazine and have advised that after the June edition members will no longer receive a copy in the post. Bulk supplies will be sent to each club and will be available to all members.

North Haven Hosts Junior Championships


The following news release has been received from Shane Globits at North Haven.
 
"North Haven Bowling & Recreation Club is hosting the 2013 NSW CHS State Triples (top 16 Schools in NSW)  next week Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June 2013


If you do have any juniors coming down I will be more than happy to run through a brief coaching session with them while they are here. We also have Greenmaster in attendance on the Wednesday Morning with a display of bowls that all can try or purchase."

Because play was abandoned today at Port City in the President's Reserve Singles it has being decided to play the remaining games next weekend 8-9 June, 2013.

This will mean the President's Reserve Pairs will be played on the weekend of the 15-16 June, 2013.

Sorry for any disruption to your weekend but we can not control nature.
