Port City WBC Encouragement Day

Winners of Port City Encouragement Day - Tuncurry Beach
Pam Gilkinson,Pat Hanlon, Trish Wilson, Liz Gray with John Oxley Motors Sponsor Heather Smith.

Then we had a dilemma by the way of 2 Teams had equal wins, equal ends. So Second place went to Forster and Kempsey Heights

The team from Kempsey - Sue Wade, Joy Vibert, Eileen Swain,Daphne Heuston, (Heather Smith - John Oxley Motors) Forster - Anne Taylor, Debbie Carey, Corrie Brook, Yvonne Hughes

What a great day was held at Port City to-day 22 Teams playing. All the bowlers who played had been bowling for less than 6 years. The rain tried to spoil it but to no avail. This is an annual event and entries fill up quickly. Our thanks go to John Oxley Motors who sponsored this event.

Test Your Knowledge

The last question concerned the third moving the jack when measuring - who moves it back to the original position? The choices were:

- the third who was measuring / the opposition / the umpire

Well done to 61% of those who voted with the correct answer "the opposition" !

Law 33.4.1 states that - "an opponent should put it back to its former position".

Test Your Knowledge

The last question concerned the action to be taken if it was discovered, after the first bowl had been delivered, that the jack and the mat were both on the wrong line.

Well done to the majority who indicated that the mat only should be moved to the correct line. Law 19.2 indicated that after the start of play, if the mat is off the centre line, it should be moved to that line.

Law 22.7 prevents you from moving the jack - "After the first player to play has delivered the first bowl no-one has the right to challenge the legality of the original position of the jack".
