Port City WBC December Newsletter

District President Diana and Secretary Carole attended our Gala Day on the 18th November and we were very pleased to present them with a cheque for $1136.00

The Regional Games were held at Maclean and Rhonda Evans and Eveline Ramsay were included in the Region 2 Team. Region 1 won this year but Rhonda & Eveline said it had been a terrific experience and enjoyed it very much.
Encouragement Day was held on 25th November and the winners were from Tuncurry Beach. The Port City ladies were very unlucky all round. All the winners were from visiting teams, including raffles & 100 Club, Nevertheless everyone appeared to enjoy a wonderful day of bowls and good company.

Placing the Mat (umpire’s contribution)

When the jack is incorrectly delivered by the first player to play, her opponent should then roll the jack.  Prior to rolling the jack, the opponent may move the mat to a new position should she so wish.  If the jack is again incorrectly delivered, the jack is placed on the “T”. The first player to play may then move the mat to a new position but the front of the mat must be at least 21 metres from the Jack which is on the (“T”).  (Law 19 and Law 23)  Thanks to Judy Brady for this information.

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do dead flies get into those enclosed light fittings?
How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

The Committee would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all back at bowls on the 6th January 2015.

Get Well wishes to any of our members or their families who are not very well, and we look forward to seeing you back at the club very soon
