Port City WBC Weekly News

We held our Daffodil Day on Tuesday 2nd September and welcomed District President Diana Upcroft and Panthers President Robyn Crosariol. There were 66 players including visitors from Westport, Wauchope and Panthers Bowling Clubs. Club Limited donated the Green Fees of $490.00, and we had a Trading Table, Raffles and a Spider and the overall proceeds of over $1400 were donated to The Cancer Council.

Congratulations to our Grade 4 Pennant Team who came 4th in the State Pennant Play-Offs at Raymond Terrace, well done girls you did our club proud.

One game of Minor Pairs was played and Mary Bennett def Eleanore Russell. Mary and Barbara go straight into the final and will play the winner of Lyn Zahra and Beth Hicks, that game will be played on Saturday 6th.

We only had one birthday girl to-day – Happy Birthday Jan Opitz, hope you had a lovely day.

Shirley and Margaret are continuing with the Circuit Training each Friday starting at 10.00 am weather permitting.

Port City Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 21st September 9.30 am start. Voting for the Board will commence on Sunday 7th and continue until 20th. Times to vote are 9.00 – 5.00 each day. Please exercise your right and cast a vote.

Entry to Consistency Singles is now open, will close on the 23rd with play to start on the 7th October.

Handicap Triples will be played next Tuesday 9th September, please be at the club early – 9.00 am start. Also on the same day is the non-player’s morning tea. Hope you can all make it, there will be some junior bowlers for you to watch as the Combined High School and the State Junior Squad will be competing.

There is a mixed pairs shoot-out on Saturday 13th September. It is single entry with a 12.00 pm start; $10 entry will include a BBQ lunch. There is a sheet on the men’s notice board for you to enter your names – good prizemoney.

To any of our members or their families who are not very well, we wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you back at the club soon.
