News from the Port City Men's BC for the week ending Sunday 14th September thanks to Colin Halls.

An eventful week at Port City

We have adopted a new mascot- the koala, a very topical choice with the unveiling of the koala trail etc in Port Macquarie. In the coming weeks we will also be showing off our new, modern redesigned pennant  uniform. A change in dress code has also been announced for social bowls. Smart casual clothing ( collared shirt), is acceptable along with the usual creams/club colours.

During the week the club hosted the annual NSW Combined High Schools vs Bowls NSW, blue and white teams+ Southern All Stars. The winning side is presented with the Neville Schwartz shield ( this is in recognition of Neville’s tireless work with junior bowls over many years). The CHS team retained the trophy for 2014.

This weekend we had a visit from Telarah BC ( near Maitland). On Saturday we ran a pairs shoot out. Winners of the winners were N. Saverston-J.Schotz. Runners Up of winners B. Hicks –P. Brady. Winners of the losers D. Gudgen-B.Ramsey, runner up of losers M. Hayes.D. Pascoe.

Next weekend we will host Belmont BC travelling bowlers and on Saturday 20th at 1pm we are looking for players. There is a sheet on the board.

There is a members only day on 11/10/2014 with $1000 prizes.

It is single entry 2 bowls triples, 3 games of 15 ends, skip rotates every 5 ends. $7 green fees, free lunch. Sheet is on the board.

New member Dale Atkins celebrated his 21st birthday.

For all the up and coming bowlers, there is free coaching available to everyone (12 year olds welcome). Just turn up to the bowls office Saturday mornings at 10:00 am – but not Saturday the 21st June.
