Port City WBC June Newsletter

HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY

You are all probably aware by now that next Tuesday is our 60th Birthday and we will be celebrating this in a big way.
To make sure you don’t miss out on the fun, please enter your name on the list as it will be taken down on Wednesday
There will be a Spider and Raffles
You will be required to wear club uniform and the cost for the day, including lunch, is $15.
$6 (green fees) of this is to be donated by Club Limited to the Hastings Early Intervention Centre. This is our nominated charity for the day.
Just as of a matter of interest the following ladies also share a birthday with our club – Joyce Ebbeck, Wendy Elliott and Frances Fairbrother. Ella Wright just misses out – 11th June and Faye Schollum 13th June.
Biggest Morning Tea
On 27th May we held our Biggest Morning Tea in aid of Cancer Research.  Before going out onto the greens we enjoyed delicious scones with jam and cream and we also held a spider for this worthy cause. We are pleased to advise that an amount of $628.45 was raised to be presented to the Cancer Council.
Regional Triples
The Regional Triples Play-off was held at Westport on 22nd May. The team consisted of Margaret Doyle, Robyn Biddle (sub) and Faye Schollum. They won the first game against South West Rocks, but unfortunately were defeated by Tuncurry/Forster Sports in a very exciting game. Well done Port City.

Regional Fours
The Regional Fours Play-off will be held at North Haven on Thursday 12th June. We congratulate our Port City Team consisting of Debbie Amor, Carol Bowman, Barbara Barrett and Judy Brady and wish them all the best. We encourage all ladies to come and cheer on our players.
Grade 4 Pennants
On 20th May we welcomed District President Diana Upcroft and District Secretary Carole Graham to our club for the unfurling of the Grade 4 Pennant Flag on the green and the presentation of pins to Barbara Owens, Joy Barry, Mary Bennett, Maureen Cutting (skip), Lorraine Cannon, June Edward, Eveline Ramsay and Robyn Biddle (skip). Later, President Barbara presented each member of the team with a certificate.
Congratulations also to the Grade 4 (2) Pennant Team for finishing Runners-Up in the District.
The Regional Pennant Play-off will be held at South West Rocks on 16th and 17th June and we
wish our team the best of luck.
Club Fours
The Club Fours are progressing and we are up to the semi-finals. The remaining teams are Pamela Ditchfield versus Lynne Thompson and Robyn Biddle versus Elaine Eames.
