Port City WBC Weekly News 11th April

On Tuesday, 9^th April President Barbara welcomed all social bowlers and visiting pennant players to the club. Unfortunately social bowls was washed out for the day, but pennants continued after a short time off the green owing to heavy rain and eventually were able to complete their matches.

Barbara congratulated Barbara and Peter Gunn who will celebrate their 50^th Wedding Anniversary next Saturday 13^th April.
Denise Gudgeon and Margaret Evans from Westport celebrated birthdays this week.

Some of the non-bowling ladies who celebrated morning tea with us today were Marianne Smith, Veronica Davey, Shirley Chapman, Jan Goldman, Irene Turner and Joy Surrey OAM. We hope you had a friendly visit with us ladies.

70’s Club Winners – 1^st Rhonda Evans, 2^nd Kerry Bolsover, 3^rd Roslyn Stone.

Lucky Rink Winners – 1^st Lorraine Cannon, Gail Carmody, Rose Edwards, Elaine Eames.
Runners-up – Marion Miller, Robin Kean, Mary Norman, Hazel Durrant.
Consolation – A pennant team from Kew.

The Club Pairs Entries closed today and the first of the matches will be played on Tuesday 23^rd April.

Veteran’s Day was held at North Haven on Monday 8^th April and it was a lovely day weather wise. It was great to see so many experienced bowlers on the green.

Next Sunday there will be a mixed triples event to raise money for Autism.

We are already selling raffle tickets and the money raised from wrong biases is being donated to this worthy cause. Please try to wear something blue on the day.
Monday 15^th April will see the start of a big week of bowls to celebrate the club’s 75th Anniversary. There will be events every day, culminating with a dinner on Sunday 21^st April. Please refer to the sheets in the club house if you wish to enter.

Weather permitting, Shirley and Margaret will be running coaching classes on Fridays, starting at 10.00 am for any ladies wishing to improve their bowls.

Please remember names in or out before 8.00 am on Social Days on 6583 1153, also if you are wishing to only play 9 ends.
