The Port City Men's Bowling Club held a pre-pennant dinner on Tuesday night enjoyed by many players, managers and support members.
After a warm welcome by President Paul Brady and updates on selection, conditions of play and coaching by Charlie Buchanan & Bryce Stewart the highlight of the evening was an inspirational talk by Ryley Batt winner of an Olympic gold medal in wheelchair rugby.
Ryley, a mature 23 year old, talked about his upbringing including the "graduation" from a skateboard to a wheelchair for mobility. He never looked back in his progression to the highest standard in his chosen sport emphasizing the need for practice and teamwork.
