A Lawn Bowls Revolution is Coming

 

 Prepare to be blown away with adrenaline fuelled hits and lightening quick action as a new format of lawn bowls revolutionises the game as we know it.

 

Later this year the Australian Premier League will be launched. An initiative expected to transform the way lawn bowls is played, viewed and perceived.

President Shirley welcomed the Grade 3 (2) pennant team from North Haven and wished all players good bowling. Vi Phillips was also welcomed back after a long absence.

Port City WBC News 17th February

 After a tremendous thunderstorm on Monday night, the sun shone brilliantly on Tuesday last for the second week of pennant. President Shirley welcomed teams from Westport, Lake Cathie and North Haven and wished all players good luck and good bowling. Spectators witnessed some excellent bowls from Grades 1 2 3 and 4 with mixed results from our girls.

The District Singles event has recently been completed and Port City girls really came to the fore with Carol White winning the trophy and Margaret Walsh runner up.  Both girls played wonderful bowls and congratulations to both of you from us all.

It was our first day of pennant last Tuesday and President Shirley welcomed teams from Wauchope on a very warm day. Port City had some good wins and were pleased with the results of our games this week. Well done girls. Thank you Judy for umpiring on such a humid day.

The final of the 2012 Men's Fours Championship was played on Sunday 5th February with Charlie (bomber) Buchanan`s team of Robert (dexter) Bradbury, Eddie (punter) Dasczyk, Joe (archie) Judge defeating Paul (shero) Sheridan, Greg (digger) Laird, Ross (bulldog) Towers & Garry (chalky) McFarlane in a fantastic game which went right down to the wire.

Friday :- 78 Bowlers Played in overcast and threatening conditions. With the winners being :- $10.00 J.Sharp and K.Atkins $7.00 R.Osborn and T.Cornforth.The Jackpot of $466.00 was not won by R.Osborn & T.Cornforth.

Brims take out the District Triples Final

The final of the LNC District Triples was played this afternoon at Port Panther under kind weather conditions. It was another "all Westport" final with skips Greg Brims and Peter Stockham doing battle again after their pairs tussle last week end.

This time Greg Brims came out on top with the team of Greg Brims (skip), Keith Martin & Col Baldwin defeating Peter Stockham (skip), Bryce Stewart & Ken Paulsen with a decisive 27 - 10 win today.

District Triples action at Port Panthers

Round 1 and the quarter finals of the LNC District triples were completed at Port Panthers today as the rain finally stayed away.

The semi finals tomorrow (Sunday) morning will see the following teams in action:

Peter Stockham (Westport)

Chris Balaam (Kew)

Greg Brims (Westport)

Geoff Worley (Port City)
