Weekly Newsletter - 28th April, 2024
In Wednesday Social Bowls the winners were Dave Harvey and Dave Jones. The Runners Up were Brad Conway, Sparra Cheers and Wayne Thrussell. Voucher winners were Ian Poole, Mick Ashford, Viv Gunter, Dave Harvey and Brad Conway. Apparently, Steve McGregor’s tickets weren't put in the barrel 
.
In the Friday Cashpot Triples, Howard Burrows, Rooster Darcy, and Gary Hamilton claimed the big prize with two wins. Reggie Robb, Cliff Kerr and Barrie Isaac claimed second place (W/L) while Dee Squires, Pat Lendrum and Maree Cini came third (L/L). Denis Squires made the long slow walk of shame to contribute a coin to Mick Ashford’s Collection Box. Voucher winners were Adrian Hilton, Kim Thompson, Doreen Barr and Stewart Rogan.
Round 9 of Open Pennants saw both Grade 4 and Grade 7 put in great efforts to grab victories from strong opposition (Grade 6 had a bye). John O’Neill’s side won their rink 31-12, while Barrie Isaac’s team won 31-23. Well done guys!. I heard that Dicko was given some lessons by a 79 y.o. lady, but somehow his pride was undented
. In Grade 7, Leonie Murphy’s, Stewart Wellard’s, and Doreen Barr’s teams all won. The results were:
- Grade 4 Kew def. Lake Cathie 76-55, 9 points to Kew
- Grade 7 Kew def. Port City 69-53, 10 point to Kew
The Club Championship Fours has commenced. Wayne Thrussell’s team came from 18-10 behind with 6 ends to play, to snatch victory with the last bowl. Wayne played some amazing bowls to keep his side in the contest. Rocky’s team was pushed into overtime, being drawn after 21 ends. They were able to snatch 2 shots in the extra end played to secure victory. The results so far are:
