Kew Men's Bowling Club

Weekly Newsletter - 6th January, 2024

In Wednesday Social Bowls the winners were Keith Collins, Brad Conway and David Jones. Runners Up were Reggie Robb, Bruce Gornall and Brian Bradley. Voucher winners were John O’Neill, Paddy Bristow, Brian Bradley and Viv Gunter. Pooley was sighted with nice new blue bowls shoes, Santa must have brought them for him.

In the Friday Cashpot Triples, Rod Fokes, Howard Burrows and Gary Hamilton took out first prize (W/W). Lyn Studdard, Mick Studdard and Terry Miles claimed second prize (W/L), while Keith Collins, Peter Mauger, and Viv Gunter claimed third (L/L). Voucher winners were Biscuits Mick Ashford, Chicka Thompson, Dave Harvey, and Dave Napper. Steve McGregor has failed to win a single raffle so far this year, and required oxygen after todays draw.

The Presidents Shield was held at North Haven on Saturday, with 4 teams representing us. The local conditions tested our teams, and sadly we were unable to win on any rink.

The Minor Singles Club Championship will commence on 21st January 2024. Entries can be made on the sheet on the Notice Board, and close on 12th January 2024.

Bob Simms has had a knee operation and is going well. We look forward to seeing you soon Bob.

A big warm welcome to Paddy Bristow and Rod Fokes, who recently joined our club. Paddy managed to win a raffle on Wednesday, and Rod picked up a winners cheque in the Friday Cashpot, so they are both amongst the winners already.

Bowls this week are Wednesday Social starting at 9am (names in by 8am), and Friday Jackpot Triples, names in by 11.30 for a 12.30 start mufti dress. Add you name to the sheets in the Club Room, or contact Chicka 0423787325, Griffo 0413052684 or text Frank 0417698899.

Please note: next week will see Friday bowls again, to get us back into the regular cycle.

Well, that's the scoop for this week. Enjoy your bowls! Cheers Andrew
