Kew Men's Bowling Club
Weekly Newsletter - 28th January, 2024

Wednesday Social Bowls was well supported, with a good number of bowlers competing. The winners were Brian “Frosty” Charters, Brad Conway and Bruce Gornall. The Runners Up were Ian Poole, Peter Laing, Rod Quirk and Wayne Thrussell. Voucher winners were Steve McGregor, John O’Neill, Wayne Thrussell and Ray Pantlin.

The Pennants Trial Game against Comboyne was a great success with Kew being victorious 4 games to 1. There were a few sausages from Chicka’s BBQ afterwards, which were well received. Howard and Frosty did a great job cooking em up. Its always fun playing against our neighbours from Comboyne, with these games always being played in great spirits. Another fantastic day!

In the Minor Singles Championship, Round 2 was played, with some great draw bowling played in damp conditions. Apparently, Barnesy had an accident when ironing his Club Shirt, but still managed a great result against Steve Hall. The full results are:

- Chicka Thompson def. Bob Carr 25-15
- Andrew Richards def. Keith Collins 25-6
- Dave Jones def. Denis Squires 26-16
- Brad Conway def. Stewart Rogan 25-20
- Paddy Bristow def. Steve McGregor 28-17
- Ian Orr def. Viv Gunter 25-23
- Warren Barnes def. Steve Hall 25-20
- Ian Poole v. Peter Mauger T.B.A.
