Weekly Newsletter - 13th January, 2024
In Wednesday Social Bowls the winners were Andrew Richards, Viv Gunter, Chicka Thompson, and Mick Ashford. Runners Up were Daryle Barr, Sparra Cheers, Rod Quirk and Wayne Thrussell. Voucher winners were Rooster Darcy, Steve Hall, Dave Wagstaff and Dave Jones. Keith Collins put in a “man of the match” performance, playing great lead bowls.
In the Friday Jackpot Triples, the half jackpot was won by Pat Lendrum, Anne Smith and John Smith. Voucher winners were Wayne Thrussell, Steve McGregor, Andrew Richards and Jean Donald. “Captain” Rod Fokes showed off his talents with some fantastic bowls, and with Paddy Bristow, is welcomed to the club.
The Minor Singles Club Championship will commence on 21st January 2024, with play starting at 9am. The draw has been completed, and is on the Notice Board in the club house (a copy is also attached). If you have a bye in the first round, please make yourself available to be a Marker. Also, please remember full (current) club uniform must be worn.
Monday Monthly Pairs Bowls will be played on 5th February, now adopting a three bowl pairs format, with 3 games of 18 ends. Both greens will be available, so we look forward to accommodating a good field of bowlers. The Entry Fee is $50 per team (includes lunch), with $200 1st Prize, $150 2nd Prize, $100 3rd Prize, and a Lucky Draw for non prize winners. Play starts at 9am. Entry sheets are in the Club House, or contact Chicka or Barrie.
The draw for the Open Pennants has now been completed, and we will be competing in Grades 4,6 and 7 (a copy of the draw is attached). A further trial game will be held on Saturday 27th January against Comboyne, and will be played at Kew. More details to follow.
The Westpac & RDA Fund Raiser will be held on 25th February, 1pm start, $20/person ($40/family), new bowlers welcome. Come along for a great cause, which includes a sausage sizzle. Contact Barrie Isaac on 6559-5225 for details.
