Weekly Newsletter - 10th December, 2023

Monday Monthly Pairs
saw a great day of bowls played, with 1st place going to Steve McGregor/Mick Ashford, 2nd place to Kim Thompson/Wayne Thrussell, 3rd place Wendy Isaac/Barrie Isaac and 4th place going to Ian Orr/Lynne Bourne. It was fantastic to see Kim Thompson get amongst the prize money, but I hear that the “Chicka Tax” drained a lot of the dividends. Round winners were Dave Harvey/Rooky Davis, Barb Waddington/Brett Irwin, and Daryle Barr/Ray (Wicky) Allan.

In Wednesday Social Bowls Reggie Robb, Viv Gunter and Wayne Thrussell won the big prize, while the Runners Up were John Smith, Darren Darcy and Ian Hodgkinson. Voucher winners were Peter Laing, George Wise, Keith Collins and Dave Napper.

The Semi Finals of the Handicapped Pairs have now been completed, with the results being:

- Steve Hall / Steve McGregor def. Denis Squires / Dave Napper 17-16
- Ian Hodgkinson / Dave Jones def. Andrew Richards / Paul Cini 28-10

The first semi final saw a close game where the margin between the teams was always close. In the game between Jones v. Cini, Hodgo and Jonesy played some great bowls to snatch shots away on a consistent basis. The Final will now be played next Tuesday 12th December, between Hodgkinson/Jones and Hall/McGregor, commencing at 12:30pm.

The Saturday CashPot saw Keith Collins/Adrian Hilton/Viv Gunter take out the Win/Win Prize. Well done Viv and his merry men. Second Place went to Bill O’Donnell/Jean Donald/Terry Duff, while John Gemmell/Rocky Davis/Dean Gemmell took out the L/L Prize. Voucher winners were Ian Orr, Keith Collins, Paddy Bristow and Dean Gemmell.

At The Travelling Bowls Christmas Party a lot of laughs were shared amongst a great bunch of bowlers. Paul Cini was very lucky to win a lovely pair of Pink Slippers. We look forward to seeing Paul wear them next year (see photo below).

The boys returned from Guyra safely, and by all reports had a fantastic time. Apparently, what happens in Guyra, stays in Guyra and they wouldn’t tell me any stories lol

Don’t forget our Christmas Party will be held on Saturday 16th December!

Bowls this week are Wednesday Social and Friday Jackpot Triples, names in by 11.30 for a 12.30 start mufti dress. To enter ring Chicka 0423787325, Griffo 0413052684 or text Frank 0417698899.
