Weekly Newsletter - 3rd December, 2023
In Wednesday Social Bowls Ray Pantlin and Rod Quirk took out the big prize, while the Runners Up were John Hilton, Daryle Barr and Rocky Davis. Voucher winners were Viv Gunter, Steve McGregor, Ian Orr, Ian Hodgkinson and Darren Darcy.
The Friday Jackpot Triples saw Ian Orr, Jeff Dixon and Rod “Legend” Quirk waving their winners envelops around with glee. Maree Cini, Jenny Wellard and Stewart Wellard claimed the Runners Up Prize. Voucher winners were Viv Gunter, Doreen Barr, Andrew Richards and Steve McGregor. That's twice this week for both Viv and Steve McGregor!! We might need to introduce a handicapping system for the vouchers soon
A big thank you to John Hilton, for stepping up and playing skipper to help cover a shortage when a couple of players couldn’t make it. That's not an easy task, yet John performed it with the spirit of a great clubman… thanks once again.
The Quarter Finals of the Handicapped Pairs saw some fantastic draw bowling, and some great weighted shots. Dave Jones managed to hit one of Sparra’s bowls with his final bowl of an end, to change it from 1 shot down to 7 shots up. What a dividend from 1 bowl! The results were:
- Denis Squires /Dave Napper def. John Hilton /Wayne Thrussell 26-12
- Ian Hodgkinson /Dave Jones def. Brad Conway /Gary Cheers 27-7
- Steve Hall /Steve McGregor def. Keith Collins /Brett Irwin 26-14
- Andrew Richards /Paul Cini def. Brian Kirkwood /Frank Raczka 32-15
Next week sees the Semi Finals, with Team Napper v. Team McGregor, and Team Cini v. Team Jones. These are scheduled for Sunday 10th December.
Monday Monthly Bowls are played tomorrow (4th December)
