Weekly Newsletter - 17th September, 2023
In the Saturday Cashpot Triples Reggie Rob, Jeff Dixon and Ian Poole played some fantastic bowls to grab the winners spot (W/W). Howard Burrows, Paul Cini and Greg Darcy claimed second spot (W/L), while Karen Rogan, Stewart Rogan and Wayne Thrussell came third. Voucher winners were Greg Darcy, Kim Thompson, Marg Ashford and Griffo Griffith.
In Club Championship Pairs Semi Finals two fantastic games were played, with the grand final being scheduled for 24th Sept 2023. Sunday’s game (Hammond v Jones) was played in hot conditions, with some great shots being played. A small crowd of eager spectators watched on as the game reached 18 all after 19 ends. Then Milesy and Hammo grabbed 4 shots in the last two ends to claim victory. The Semi Final Results were:
- G. Hamilton / C. Doyle def. R. Davis / H. Burrows 19-13
- T. Miles / M. Hammond def. A. Richards / D. Jones 22-18
Sunday 17th was a big day for John Hilton, who turned 90 years young. John likes to keep his birthday a secret, but I have my sources lol. Congratulations mate on your big day. You’ve been a stalwart of the club for many years and its great to see you on the green teaching young Adrian how to bowl.
In other news, Brad Conway invested big bucks in a new set of “Rabbitoh” Bowls. Apparently he only got three bowls, with the Lattrell bowl being sidelined. Also, a big welcome to new members, Bruce Gornall and Bob (not the politician) Carr. Dave Wagstaff also joined us recently, and its great to have new blood in the club.
Bowls this week are Wednesday Social and Friday Jackpot Triples, names in by 11.30 for a 12.30 start mufti dress. To enter ring Chicka 0423787325, Griffo 0413052684 or text Frank 0417698899.
